DAVE WHEELER MBE
1963 - 1968 - Meteorologist, sub-antarctic island of South Georgia. Gained much photographic experience processsing colour film & developing and printing B&W. Started in 1963 with a Pentax s1a, now using a Pentax *istD.
1968 - 1972 - Worked with Scottish TV as a sound engineer. Member Edinburgh Photographic Society.
1972 - Arrived Fair Isle. Started the Fair Isle Weather Station in 1974. Started with computers in 1983. On the WorldWideWeb at the beginning when it was just text based! Awarded MBE for 'Services to Meteorology on Fair Isle in June 2002.
PRESENT OCCUPATIONS – Crofter, Meteorologist/Weather Forecaster, Photographer, Digital & Computer Consultant, Web Author, Auxiliary Coastguard, Registrar of Births, Deaths & Marriages, Airport Manager, IT Instructor at Fair Isle Primary School.
INTERESTS - Computers, internet, meteorology - particularly cold climates, glaciology, photography, malt whisky - in no particular order!
